What Does Second Chance Recycling Do?
Second Chance Recycling specializes in recycling mattresses, box springs, batteries and medical blue wrap. We have strong contractual relationships with Hennepin County, the City of Minneapolis and MN Waste Wise. Our services are cost-effective, flexible and adaptable.
Mattress and Box Spring Recycling
Mattresses and box springs that would have ended up in landfills are accepted for a fee of $15 each at our Minneapolis location; it is best to make an appointment so we can help with the unloading. The mattresses and box springs are dismantled and the materials are separated for recycling. If the mattresses are moldy or wet and/or have springs, there is an additional charge. Mattresses with bed bugs are NOT accepted. For quantities of mattresses or box springs of 20 or more, please contact us to make arrangements for drop-off. Batteries are collected from many facilities around the country and sorted at our Minneapolis location. Recycling batteries keeps harmful toxins away from the waste stream.
Medical Blue Wrap Recycling
Hospital blue wrap is a highly specialized polypropylene plastic product used as a durable, sterile protective cover to wrap and store sterilized instrument trays in operating rooms and clinics. Blue wrap is completely recyclable and most hospitals and medical facilities dispose of it in a landfill. Second Chance Recycling collects, bales and sells blue wrap to companies in the Upper Midwest. These companies turn the blue wrap into new products such as toys, recycling containers, garbage cans and other plastic items.
